Midazolam, also known under the brand name 'Versed' is a benzodiazepine, which is often used as a pre-med to reduce anxiety, produce drowsiness or anesthesia before certain medical procedures or surgeries. This medicine can be administered via I.v and. I.m. Benzodiazepines work by increasing gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) levels in the brain, which helps to induce an anti-anxiety sedative effect.
