When you think of suction system disinfection, many in the dental practice would think of Orotol, and for good reason. Orotol’s cleaning solution was first launched in 1965, a full sixty years ago at time of writing, and this cleaning solution has claimed a name for itself as an effective, easy-to-use, reliable, and safe product for suction systems. But what has given Orotol such longevity? What keeps practitioners coming back to Orotol despite the presence of market alternatives? These are questions we’ll be exploring today.
Context on Durr, and what Makes Orotol Stand Out
Orotol plus, at present, the most prominent range being sold by orotol describes itself with the following:
“Foam-free liquid concentrate for the simultaneous disinfection, cleaning, deodorisation and care of dental suction systems and amalgam separators.”
This description makes it sound simple enough. No particular information has been revealed here which would explain Orotol’s consistent success as the dental suction unit disinfection solution of choice. But, after some brief exploration into Durr’s blog section, you’ll find another phrase. One which may be more revealing about the origins of Orotol’s success
"Stronger together"
60 years ago, Dürr Dental not only invented the suction system, but also the associated disinfectant and cleaning agent. This was the start of our innovative system solutions in the field of dental suction and the basis for the best protection against infection in everyday dental practice.”.
Talk about burying the lede, Durr Dental invented the modern dental suction system! So, with that in mind, is there any wonder why Orotol Plus has been able to dial in to the needs of suction systems so effectively? Not only would they be first to market with their cleaner, but they would also have unparalleled knowledge of what a suction system needs to function. For example, a suction system needs to be able to be used with cold water without foaming, as foaming liquids can interfere with, or damage the suction system.
Everything you need – In One Place
Another way in which Orotol stays ahead of its competition, is that it provides a comprehensive set of products which provide everything you need to maintain your dental suction system. These items being:
