Antibiotic Amoxicillin tablets, at 250mg strength. A derivative of Penicillin, Amoxicillin is commonly used to treat a broad spectrum of bacterial infections, most notably dental abcesses. This makes it an important part of the dental practice. This Amoxicillin comes in tablet form, meaning it can be easily administered orally.
Amoxicillin sachets are meant to be dissolved in water for easy oral administration from those who have difficulty swallowing, this is particularly relevant to patients who suffer from oral pain caused by abscesses. However, amoxicillin suspensions may be unpleasant for some patients to take, so capsules provide an alternative where the discomfort caused by drinking this suspension outweighs the pain it may cause.
Amoxicillin is mostly well-tolerated by, however, the following patients are advised against taking this antibiotic:
If your patient has recently had, or will soon receive a vaccination of any kind.
If your patient has had allergic reactions to Amoxicillincillin before.
If your patient has kidney or liver problems.
