The DD Group of Companies is committed to promoting sustainability, concern for the environment and promoting a broader sustainability agenda. These are integral to DD’s professional activities and the management of the organisation.

We aim to follow and to promote good sustainability practice, to reduce the environmental impacts of all our activities and to help our clients and partners to do the same.

We aim to conduct our business upon the following principles:

  • To comply with, and exceed where practicable, all applicable legislation, regulations, and codes of practice;
  • To integrate sustainability considerations into all our business decisions;
  • To ensure that all staff are fully aware of our objectives and are committed to implementing and improving it;
  • To minimise the impact of all office and transportation activities;
  • To make Suppliers aware of our approach to environmental sustainability and encourage them to adopt sound sustainable management practices.
  • To review and to continually strive to improve our sustainability performance.

In order to put these principles into practice we will:

Travel and meetings:

  • Encourage the use of public transport to attend meetings, site visits and where practical and cost effective do so.
  • Avoid physically travelling to meetings and where alternatives are available and practical, such as using teleconferencing, video conferencing and the efficient timing of meetings to avoid multiple trips.
  • Reduce the need for our staff to travel by supporting alternative working arrangements, including home working etc.

Purchase of materials and consumption of resources:

  • Minimise our use of paper and other office consumables;
  • As far as is reasonably practicable, arrange for the reuse or recycling of waste, including paper, packaging; computer supplies and redundant equipment;
  • Reduce the energy consumption of equipment by purchasing energy efficient equipment where viable;
  • Ensuring any materials used, are from sustainable sources where possible;
  • Favour the purchase of recycled materials and those which are suitable for disposal by recycling over less sustainable options;
  • Favouring suppliers who operate according to sound environmental principles

Waste:

  • We will dispose of all waste in a responsible manner, ensuring that we always comply with the Duty of Care Regulations. Any services used for the storage or disposal of waste will be checked to ensure that appropriate licences are held.
