This is a highly effective antibiotic indicated for use in treating oral infections such as gingivitis, Vincent's angina, as well as other infections, including upper respiratory tract infections. This is a macrolide antibiotic, which slows the growth of, or sometimes kills, bacteria by reducing the production of important proteins needed by the bacteria to survive. Erythromycin is used to treat or prevent many different types of bacterial infections and tends to help patients start feeling better within 1-2 days of starting their antibiotics course. You may know erythromycin through other brand names, such as Erythroped, Erymax, Erythroped A, Tiloryth.
Erythromycin is associated with gastro-intestinal upset, and its most common side effects include, but are not limited to -nausea, loss of appetite, bloating, stomach cramps, sickness, diarrhoea.
Erythromycin cannot be taken by cannot be taken by patients who are pregnant or trying to get pregnant, have had diarrhoea while taking antibiotics, have kidney, liver problems, or have had an allergic reaction to any antibiotic.
