Routinely prescribed to clear up dental infections, Metronidazole is an antibiotic which is commonly used to treat mouth infections, gum infections and dental abscesses, as well as some skin conditions. Metronidazole, also known as ‘Metrogel’ is an antiprotozoal medication, as well as antibiotic, and can help your patient feel better after 1-2 days of following a treatment course. In cases with more intense swelling, it may take a little longer for significant symptom relief.
Metronidazole is used in Acea, Anabact, Flagyl, Metrogel, Metrosa, Rosiced, Rozex, Vaginyl, Zidoval and Zyomet.
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and a metallic taste in the mouth are all common side effects of Metronidazole. Please see the product information leaflet for more details.
