This catheter comes with a range of features to improve patient comfort, it has a back-cut needle bevel, which allows for easy insertion and decreases the risk of vein damage. The needle of this catheter is protected using a passive safety needle system, which helps to prevent needle stick injuries, this needle also softens when in the vein, softening up to 70% and increasing its dwell times.
Wing position reduces the risk of bacterial contamination by preventing any direct contact between the rear of the catheter hub and the skin. Utilising the wings, immobility of the catheter can be further insured by the application of the BD Veca-C and BD Veca-Fix IV dressing.
