What are the contraindications of SDI Super Etch?
Soft tissues, if the treatment site cannot be etched, or patients who are allergic to phosphoric acids and blue dyes.
How do I use SDI Super Etch?
SDI has prepared the following instructions for using Super Etch:
Isolate tooth. Prepare cavity.
Clean the surface to be etched using a nonfluoridated, oil-free prophylaxis paste, or a pumice and water slurry.
Rinse thoroughly with water.
Thoroughly dry the surface to be etched with dry, oilfree air.
CAUTION: DO NOT dispense Super Etch LV without a dispensing tip on. Only use the pre-bent tips supplied.
Before dispensing, slightly pull the plunger backward (~1mm) and then push forward.
Note: on first usage, or after prolonged storage, extrude a small amount onto a mixing pad for familiarity with the etchant's viscosity and rate of extrusion.
Leave on: a. enamel for at least 30 seconds. b. dentin and glass ionomer liner for 20 seconds.
Rinse well with water for 5-10 seconds.
Remove excess water.
Apply bonding agent, or pit and fissure sealant, such as Conseal f, according to manufacturer's instructions.
