American Eagle Instruments are now available from DD Group.

Trusted by generations of dental professionals around the world, every American Eagle Instrument begins with premium materials and a visionary design. American Eagle Instruments was founded 75 years ago and has been part of the Young Innovations dental group since 2017. American Eagle’s focus is on progressive, innovative dental products which deliver more efficient processes with added ergonomic comfort to the clinician.

The range includes instruments for diagnostics, prophylaxis, restoration, periodontics, implantology and endodontics, as well as instrument cassettes for efficient and hygienic reprocessing and storage.

  • Fine, sharp instruments are essential for successful treatments, especially for periodontal treatments. Traditionally, scalers and curettes have had to be constantly sharpened, but American Eagle patented XP technology makes instrument tips significantly more durable. The XP technology is a patented surface engineering process – the alloys are applied to a stainless-steel base during the nano-optimised surface treatment and thus creates a strong, always-sharp metal.

So what does the XP Sharpen-Free technology deliver?

    • The thinner tip design means easy access to the space between teeth and periodontal pockets; therefore, better results can be achieved while at the same time increasing the patient's comfort level.
    • Relegates time-consuming sharpening to a thing of the past.
    • Ergonomic benefits for the clinician - the sharper metal means using less pressure to remove calculus. This allows for gentle “shaving” using lighter strokes.

  • One of American Eagle’s innovations is a cost-efficient approach to scaling. The environmentally friendly Quik-Tip™ prophylaxis instruments are exchangeable tips with specially designed handles. When the tips become unusable, only these are replaced instead of the entire instrument thereby saving resources, reducing waste and minimising costs. Quik-Tip™ handles are available in three versions and seven colours which enable clinicians to create an instrument suited to their clinical needs. This also simplifies the identification of instruments by user, treatment room or area of application. Quik-Tips are obtainable for scalers, curettes and Gracey curettes, either in sharpen-free American Eagle XP Technology® or in Talon Tough stainless steel.

  • A recent addition to the composite range, is the M5 Restorative Series collection for composite restorations that comprises five instruments coated with patented XP Technology® coating which gives a particularly smooth surface. The multifunctional set reduces the number of tools required as each instrument has two optimally matched working ends, which noticeably simplify and speed up procedures.

The series was created in collaboration with Dr Anthony Mak, a multi-award-winning specialist in restorative dentistry who has also earned an excellent reputation through seminars and workshops. Thanks to XP Technology® the instruments have nano-optimised, extremely hard and scratch-resistant surface, meaning in a restorative setting the material does not stick to the instruments. The ergonomic, well-balanced handles are made of stainless steel.

The M5-Sculpt universal instrument is a true problem solver. It can be used to apply refined composite to both the anterior and posterior teeth and is excellent for creating the tooth's anatomy and layering in deep cavities.

The M5-Anterior is a very thin composite carver for layering, flattening and shaping in the interproximal and gingival areas. The flexible working ends adapt to the curvature of the tooth. The blade covers the entire length of the tooth, which is particularly beneficial when placing and sculpting Class IV (anterior tooth)/veneer composite.

The M5-Pack for applying and packing composite in posterior teeth features a ball end and a flat-ended plugger. The composite does not roll over the plugger like on a ball burnisher. A larger amount of composite should be applied using only a ball burnisher.

The M5-Carve effectively removes interproximal material. The strong, unbreakable blades are 25% thinner and facilitate interproximal access without widening the contact area. Thanks to XP Technology, the blades remain sharp for a particularly long time, making it easy to remove and cut the material at all times. The blades have ergonomic angles for easy access to all areas.

The M5-Mini rounds off the collection. The short, flat spatula is ideal for applying composite in hard-to-reach areas or packing composite in small spaces.

  • GALAXIE instrument cassettes compliment the range providing efficient and hygienic reprocessing and storage. The sturdy case made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel protects the equipment, while the unique design reduces contact points. The laser-cut grid maximizes water flow and increases efficiency in the WD/thermal disinfector. Rounded edges and slotted corners accelerate drainage, reducing drying time. The ergonomic closure can be operated with one hand. The food-safe, colour-coded silicone rails can be variably distributed and are compatible with all common handle diameters.
