Just like the X-Smart® Pro+, the X-Smart® go comes with an integrated apex locator which provides real-time updates to help you determine the length while shaping, regardless of if you're using continuous rotation or reciprocating movements. This feature, which is referred to as "Dr's Choice" allows you to mark an individual predetermined reference position at the required distance from the apex, establishing a variable apical line. This can be set within a helpful set of blue and orange guidelines, which the X-Smart® Go will generate for you. When the ‘Dr’s Choice’ apical line is set, you’ll get a clear visual and audio notification when file tip has reached its pre-selected position. Once the desired point in the canal is reached, the user will get an option to reverse or stop. This is another ease-of-use feature which can help to guide the practitioner to perform more efficient and effective shaping.
The integrated apex locator within the X-Smart® Go can be used one of two ways, either for separate length determination, or combined length determination which are described by Dentsply Sirona as the following processes:
- Separate Length Determination: The working length is determined manually (without the motor) using the file clip and the lip clip.
- Combined Length Determination: The working length is determined while the root canal is being prepared. The motor and the apex locator are thus active simultaneously using the endodontic file inside the contra-angle and the lip clip.

Yes! The following components need to be reprocessed before the first use and between each patient: contra-angle and its protective silicone sleeve, lip clip and file clip.
