Powerful imaging with up to six points of view, excellent image quality, and an intuitive interface which is easy to use at all levels of technical expertise, these are all qualities one might want in a CBCT imaging system, and all qualities you can find in the Carestream CS 8200 3D Access.  Precise, easy to use, and jam-packed with value added features. We want to talk about this CBCT imaging system today because it is an example of dental practice technology done right, a great product with no hidden fees.

Before we start...
We’ve written a lot of blogs which may be useful to you, if you’re looking to make an equipment purchase. One of these blogs lays out our reactive maintenance & engineering plans, so you can rest assured that your equipment is covered. If you’re looking to purchase equipment as part of a practice refresh, why not consider reading our blog about our partnership with McKillops dental, who are experts in installations and practice planning. Additionally, we’ve written product spotlights on several other products, such as TePe Dry Mouth gel and mouthwash, SDI Stela, and guides on purchasing dental products, like endodontic motors.

The Benefits of a good CBCT Scanner
“Having the CS 8200 3D Access in the practice means better case preparation and planning. It also lets us manage treatment time more efficiently, which in turn makes the practice more profitable. “
-Dr. Benjamin Houbani  on the CS 8200 3D Access.

Carestream CBCT Imaging

We all know about CBCT Imaging, your imaging system rotates around the patient, taking a series of 2D images from different angles. From this, software algorithms build those images into a 3D space and showing the structures and densities which exist within the mouth. This 3D space can then be changed, sliced in any direction to inspect any precise point within the mouth. As a diagnostic tool, CBCT scanners are excellent, however, they often cost a lot, and require a good amount of technical know-how to use, as well as engineering support to stay in top condition.
So, if we’re breaking down what makes the CS 8200 3D Access scanner an excellent CBCT imaging system, let’s break down what makes it stand out, starting from design and ending with its open-platform software.

Design
The footprint of the CS 8200 is a modest 1.2m x 1.2m, which is quite petite for a CBCT imaging suite. This is a nice added bonus, every practice, appreciates having a little more space to work with,  but the real primary benefit this small footprint has is that it makes it much easier to install. The CS8200 CBCT is extremely easy to install, which minimises disruption to your practice.
The height of this scanner is adjustable, meaning most patients can comfortably be scanned regardless of their height.

Field-of-View
A high field of view in CBCT imaging is one of those features which is always helpful. Being able to see and scan large portions of the mouth with one scan saves having to scan multiple times, and gives you a more comprehensive picture of mouth health. The Carestream CS8200 CBCT has multiple pre-selected point of view permutations, from 4x4 cm focused scans to wider 10x10 cm scans, the CS 8200 has the versatility you need.  This flexibility helps in the planning of complicated procedures, like pterygoid and zygoma implants.

Ease of Use
The design of the CS8200 means having to worry about patient positioning, lasers, etc., are a thing of the past. To scan, simply specify the region of interest, and the machine will take accurate imaging with every scan. This intuitive system reduces errors and saves time, making it an excellent scanner for busy dental practices.

Image Quality
Image quality is one of the big factors in buying any CBCT machine, and for good reason. The CS 8200 uses Metal Artifact Reduction (MAR) technology to remove scatter, and improve image quality. Additionally, this CBCT system uses Automatic Noise Reduction (ANR), to help capture the highest quality image possible with a minimal dose of radiation (up to 50% less than other CBCT machines).

Open platform Software
The Carestream CS 8200 was built on an open software platform.  What this means, is that the software has been built on  published and documented external application programming interfaces (API) , meaning it can be altered, changed and customised more than a standard application. This helps you to more easily connect CS imaging software with leading intraoral scanners. The CS 8200 is powered by CS Imaging Version 8.
