COURSE DESCRIPTION

This comprehensive two-day hands-on course will guide the delegates through the most contemporary teaching in the medium/large direct restoration of posterior teeth. The concepts of biomimetics and MI dentistry will form the basis of the simplified approach. The course will explore the use of fibre reinforced composite, use of brushes for composite modelling and demystify occlusion to limit the need for adjustment. The outcome will be predictable, aesthetic and durable restorations

AIMS

Produce anatomically aesthetic, long-lasting and functional direct posterior restorations with a practical layering protocol. Explore techniques to directly restore large amalgam and composite failures. Reproduce optical characteristics to make your restorations even more aesthetic

OBJECTIVES

  • Isolation in the posterior sector
  • Anatomy and morphology of posterior teeth
  • Design to preparation of class I and II cavities
  • Update in composite resins and fibre reinforced restorative materials – G-ænial A’CHORD, G-ænial Universal Injectable (GUI) and everX Flow
  • Current strategies in adhesive techniques
  • Contemporary Occlusal stamping technique
  • Interproximal surfaces and contact points
  • Occlusal adjustment, finishing and polishing of restorations

BIOGRAPHY – Dr Hussein S Patanwal

Hussein Patanwala graduated from the University of Birmingham and went on to complete a post in oral and maxillofacial surgery in Boston. Returning to London he is one of only a few to hold memberships to three faculties of the Royal College of Surgeons London and completed restorative training at the UCL Eastman Dental institute. Hussein spends the majority of his time as Clinical Lead of two well respected dental clinics in he Midlands. For over 15 years Hussein has been a clinical lecturer in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Birmingham. The last 6 years he has been Head of Firm for 5th BDS and sits on the undergraduate admissions panel. As well as his work with undergraduates he lectures internationally to postgraduate students in fixed prosthodontics, adhesive and minimal intervention dentistry. Most recently Hussein has been pursuing his keen interest in research, collaborating with King’s College London to study Minimal Intervention Dentistry. He is a Key Opinion Leader for GC UK and respected senior clinical advisor to industry.
